about melissa

I have loved Art for as long as I can remember. As an artist, I strive to create beautiful, aesthetically pleasing images that offer a blend of simple and harmonious designs. My art background encompasses all types of mediums: ceramics, painting, drawing, printmaking and design.

Following a degree in Fine Arts and years of working as a marketing professional in nationally recognized corporations, I returned to school for Graphic Design. The art/design schooling plus the real world marketing experience has given me a well-rounded approach to identifying advertising needs, opportunities and helping the client dial in their brand design and visuals to capture a specific audience.

designer + artist

In addition to offering professional graphic design services, I also sell my artwork to various retail location around Colorado including a line of greeting cards, wall decor prints and hand-made pottery.  My inspiration for pottery is often based from the artisan craftsmen – working with their hands to make beautiful, useful objects.  Recent interviews: Voyage 2019 Denver Trailblazer and a 2021 ShoutOut Colorado.

small batch pottery

I am so fortunate to have a small, backyard pottery studio with a potter’s wheel, kiln and lots of space for hand-building. I love to play with texture and patterns in clay and am always on the lookout for cool textures in nature that might make good impressions in clay. I geek out exploring glazes and testing how they react with one another chemically, but also aestetically on the vessel and in color combonations. I sell my pottery at local gift shops around Colorado as well as several art sales throughout the year.
